About Me
Dr. Faisel Ahmad is a fully licensed ophthalmologist practicing in Illinois and Missouri, with a specialization in cataract surgery and medical retinal treatments. A native of southern Illinois, he completed his undergraduate education in neurobiology at Northwestern University and earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University.
Dr. Ahmad completed an internship in internal medicine followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Saint Louis University Eye Institute. He pursued additional training through a clinical observership in vitreoretinal diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and a clinical medical retina fellowship at Marion Eye Center. His research contributions include authoring a book chapter on anterior segment surgical techniques and publishing on retinal vascular disease in peer-reviewed journals.
He specializes in small-incision, no-stitch cataract surgery and offers laser and medical treatments for retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Ahmad provides advanced intraocular lens options, including toric and multifocal lenses, and develops personalized care plans for each patient. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has participated in international surgical missions.
