Dr. Michael Cohen

Dr. Michael N. Cohen is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He practices at Mid Atlantic Retina and is an active member of The Retina Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Solomon and Dora Shapiro Award for excellence and was elected president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society chapter.

He completed a transitional year internship at Einstein Medical Center and an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, serving as Chief Resident and receiving the James S. Shipman Award for best scientific presentation. Dr. Cohen then pursued a fellowship in retina and vitreous diseases at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and Tufts University Medical Center. His clinical practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular holes.

Dr. Cohen is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College and actively participates in clinical research, having served as principal investigator or sub-investigator in over 70 clinical trials. He has published extensively on retinal detachment repair, macular degeneration, and novel drug delivery systems. Dr. Cohen is committed to advancing the field through research and providing comprehensive care for patients with retinal diseases.
