About Me
Michael J. Huvard, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. He treats medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Huvard works closely with patients to explain findings and options, and he uses modern techniques to protect vision while minimizing recovery time.
Dr. Huvard earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan (receiving the Walter R. Parker Resident Teaching Award), and finished a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Colorado. His interests include outcomes of complex posterior segment disease and advancing medical and surgical education.
