Meet Dr. Abigail Fahim
About Me
Dr. Abigail T. Fahim is a retina specialist at the University of Michigan's Kellogg Eye Center with a focus on inherited retinal diseases and medical retina. She works with patients and families facing conditions that can affect central or peripheral vision and helps guide evaluation, long-term monitoring, and care planning.
Her clinical interests include retinitis pigmentosa, choroideremia, cone and cone-rod dystrophies, X-linked retinoschisis, Stargardt disease, Best disease, and other macular dystrophies, as well as autoimmune retinopathy and cancer-associated retinopathy. Dr. Fahim earned her MD from Baylor College of Medicine and her PhD from the University of Michigan. She completed ophthalmology residency and a Medical Retina fellowship at the Kellogg Eye Center.
She also leads research on retinal pigment epithelial cell dysfunction in inherited retinal disease, using laboratory models to better understand disease mechanisms and support future therapies.
