About Me
Dr. Michael Bennett is an ophthalmologist and retina specialist with over two decades of experience. He serves as the founder and Medical Director of the Eye Center of Hawaii, where he focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the vitreous, macula, and retina, including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Bennett has developed advanced surgical techniques for retinal conditions and has been involved in pioneering work such as the development of the bionic eye for retinal degenerative conditions. He also integrates artificial intelligence into ophthalmic care to improve early detection and treatment.
Dr. Bennett is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of eye care professionals. He has been recognized with multiple awards for his contributions to ophthalmology and remains active in research and global consultations. Dr. Bennett leads medical missions to provide eye care to underserved communities.
