About Me
Dr. Claudia Gómez Hooten is an ophthalmologist with advanced training in retinal disease and vitreoretinal surgery. She helps patients understand complex retina conditions and offers treatment plans designed to preserve vision and support day-to-day quality of life.
Dr. Hooten was born in Santiago, Chile, and moved to Galveston, Texas at an early age. She graduated from Rice University and earned her medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She completed ophthalmology residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Wake Forest University.
Her clinical work includes care for conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular holes, and macular pucker, as well as treatment for ocular trauma and inflammatory conditions affecting the retina.
