About Me
Dr. Maura Di Nicola is an ophthalmologist who cares for patients with uveitis, ocular tumors, and diseases of the retina and vitreous. She treats both adults and children and welcomes patients across the age spectrum. Her clinical interests include inflammatory eye disease as well as cancers such as choroidal melanoma and retinoblastoma. Patients appreciate her clear communication, collaborative approach, and the way she coordinates care with oncology and rheumatology colleagues when needed. She is fluent in Italian, French, and English, and offers evidence-based therapies informed by advanced imaging and current research.
At Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Dr. Di Nicola serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology. Her research explores multimodal imaging in retinal disease and ocular tumors, prognostic testing in uveal melanoma, and immunomodulatory therapy for uveitis. She completed fellowships in ocular oncology and in uveitis/medical retina after residency training in ophthalmology, and provides comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each patient’s diagnosis and goals.
