About Me
Dr. Efrem Mandelcorn is a retina specialist focused on medical and surgical management of retinal diseases. His expertise includes treating diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal tears, and posterior uveitis. He utilizes advanced surgical techniques and intravitreal injections to preserve and restore vision.
After earning his Bachelor of Science as a gold medalist from the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Mandelcorn received his medical degree with honours. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, followed by specialized fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Toronto and a second fellowship in surgical retina and posterior uveitis at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Currently, Dr. Mandelcorn is an attending surgeon at Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network, and holds an Assistant Professor position at the University of Toronto. As the Fellowship Director for Vitreoretinal Surgery, he is actively involved in education. His dedication to teaching has been honored with awards such as the J.S. Crawford Post-graduate Teaching Award and the Teaching Excellence Award.
