About Me
Dr. Matthew Javitt is a glaucoma specialist at the Wilmer Eye Institute and an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins. He cares for adults and children with glaucoma and also treats age-related cataracts. His surgical practice includes minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), traditional filtering procedures, pediatric glaucoma surgery, and in-office laser treatments such as laser trabeculoplasty, laser peripheral iridotomy, and YAG capsulotomy. Patients value his clear explanations, collaborative planning, and focus on long-term vision preservation. Dr. Javitt completed his medical degree at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, residency in ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, and a glaucoma fellowship through the Harvard Department of Ophthalmology. His research centers on improving detection and monitoring of glaucoma in young children, including developing gamified approaches to visual field testing that can guide treatment decisions.
