About Me
Dr. Joseph Anaya is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. At Johns Hopkins, he combines advanced imaging and minimally invasive techniques with clear, compassionate communication so people understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Patients often meet him when vision changes are sudden or worrisome; he focuses on timely intervention and thoughtful follow-up to help preserve and improve sight.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Anaya serves on the Johns Hopkins faculty and has interests in quality improvement and patient experience. He values collaboration with referring optometrists and ophthalmologists and works closely with patients and families to plan care that fits their lives. Whether someone needs injections for macular degeneration, surgery for a retinal detachment, or guidance after a complicated exam, his goal is to provide steady expertise from first visit through recovery.
