About Me
Dr. John D. Hyatt is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University, completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee, and pursued a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Charles Retina Institute in Memphis. Dr. Hyatt also served as a Medical Officer in the Marine Corps and United States Navy, where he received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his leadership and service.
At the Retina and Vitreous Center of Southern Oregon, Dr. Hyatt provides comprehensive care for a range of retinal and vitreous conditions, including retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. He performs advanced surgical procedures such as vitrectomy and retinal laser surgery to help preserve and restore vision.
Dr. Hyatt has contributed to the field through publications in The Glaucoma Book and the Special Forces Medical Handbook. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to his patients.
