Dr. Jacob Yunker

Dr. Jacob J. Yunker is a vitreoretinal specialist at River City Retina Consultants in Louisville, Kentucky. He treats a range of retinal conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular pucker and macular hole, intraocular tumors and choroidal melanoma, and vitreous diseases and floaters.

A native of Maysville, Kentucky, Dr. Yunker earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency and served as chief resident at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Retina Consultants of Alabama. Dr. Yunker has a passion for teaching and has served as an Assistant Professor of Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Kentucky, where he received the Brass Apple teaching award. He has also co-instructed courses on diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vitreoretinal surgical techniques at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting.
