About Me
Dr. Steven M. Bloom is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous at Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville. He has been caring for patients in the Kentuckiana area since 1989 and joined the practice in 1995. His clinical focus is dedicated entirely to retinal and vitreous conditions, including diabetic eye disease, uveitis, and other posterior segment disorders.
Dr. Bloom completed his undergraduate and medical education through a combined BA-MD program at Lehigh University and the Medical College of Pennsylvania, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a fellowship in medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases at the Scheie Eye Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. He is known for his knowledgeable, personalized, and caring approach to patient care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bloom is the founder of Retina Rocks, an online multimedia retina image library, and authored the textbook "Laser Surgery of the Posterior Segment." He remains active in research and education, serving as a scientific reviewer for ophthalmic journals.
