About Me
Dr. Elisabeth J. Cohen is a clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr.
Cohen is an internationally recognized researcher on herpes zoster (shingles) infections of the eye, having led the Zoster Eye Disease Study and authored numerous publications on the subject. Her work has contributed to the development of new treatments for ocular shingles, including long-term low-dose antiviral therapy. She has been honored with the Castroviejo Medal for her outstanding contributions to cornea and external disease research. In addition to her research, Dr. Cohen serves as Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Ophthalmology at NYU Langone Health. She provides comprehensive ophthalmology care, with a particular focus on corneal infections and inflammation related to shingles.
