Dr. Elena Gianfermi

Dr. Elena Gianfermi is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus surgeon at Children's Eye Care of Michigan. She provides comprehensive eye care for children and adults, with a particular focus on strabismus (misaligned eyes) and amblyopia (lazy eye). Dr. Gianfermi also specializes in pediatric cataract surgery, pediatric eyelid abnormalities, and the treatment of retinopathy of prematurity.

As a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University, Dr. Gianfermi is involved in training the next generation of eye care specialists. She teaches pediatric ophthalmology fellows and ophthalmology residents from several prominent institutions in Michigan. Her hospital affiliations include Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Beaumont Hospital, Ascension St. John’s Hospital, and Hurley Medical Center, where she screens premature babies for retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr. Gianfermi is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She has been recognized as a Top Doc by Hour Detroit for her expertise and dedication to patient care.
