About Me
Dr. Marcus is a vitreoretinal surgeon who has been practicing in the Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina region since 1994. He is the managing physician of Southeast Retina Center and Director of Clinical Research at Eye Health America, bringing extensive experience and leadership in retinal care to the community.
He completed six years of advanced training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, including a research fellowship in ophthalmic pathology, ophthalmology residency, and surgical fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery. He previously served as Director of the Retina Service at the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a tenured Professor of Ophthalmology and Vice-Chairman. He has been treating patients full-time at Southeast Retina Center since 2005.
Dr. Marcus is devoted to caring for patients with diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment. He is a nationally recognized leader in vitreoretinal surgery and clinical research, having served as lead investigator in multiple clinical trials that bring cutting-edge therapies to the region. His dedication to innovative treatments, including anti-VEGF therapies and retinal gene therapy, has contributed to FDA approvals and advanced care for his patients.
