Dr. Christopher R. Fortenbach is a vitreoretinal surgeon and physician-scientist who cares for the full range of retinal and macular disease. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, he treats conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and tears, macular holes, and inherited retinal dystrophies, and manages complex inflammatory and vascular diseases of the retina. Patients can expect clear explanations, evidence-based treatment plans, and close follow-up tailored to preserving sight and quality of life. Dr. Fortenbach completed ophthalmology residency and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He earned an MD and a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at UC Davis, where his research explored how retinal neurons encode light. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he continues laboratory work focused on therapies to restore vision loss. Dr. Peter Clark

Ophthalmology – Retina Specialist

Dr. Peter Clark is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients with complex diseases of the back of the eye at Confluence Health in Wenatchee. He provides both medical and surgical treatment for conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. Dr. Clark completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He then completed an internal medicine internship at California Pacific Medical Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of California Irvine. Fluent in English and Spanish, he values clear communication and shared decision making so patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Outside of clinic and the operating room, he enjoys playing the violin and guitar and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Minh Trinh

Dr. Minh Trinh is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical care of retinal and vitreous diseases. He treats conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and tears, and uveitis, offering modern diagnostics and individualized treatment plans. Patients value his calm, clear communication and his commitment to partnering on decisions that protect and restore vision. A Seattle native, Dr. Trinh completed ophthalmology residency at Northwell Health in New York City—serving as chief resident—followed by a two-year surgical retina fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. He earned his MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed undergraduate studies at the University of Washington with a focus in bioengineering. After a decade away, he returned home to join Washington Retina in 2024. Dr. Trinh cares for patients across the South Sound and is fluent in English and Vietnamese.
