Dr. Charles Williamson

Dr. Charles H. Williamson is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon and the founder and medical director of Williamson Eye Center. With over 35 years in practice, he is the second generation of eye doctors in a family that has served the Baton Rouge community for more than 70 years.

Dr. Williamson is a highly experienced cataract and refractive surgeon. He pioneered the development of clear corneal cataract surgery under topical anesthesia, a technique now widely used worldwide. He has lectured internationally and taught thousands of surgeons, and has contributed articles and chapters to textbooks on cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Williamson also founded the first outpatient eye surgery center in Louisiana and the first LASIK center in the Baton Rouge area, remaining at the forefront of modern cataract and refractive surgery.
