About Me
Dr. Catherine Marando is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and glaucoma surgeon. She specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, and general eye disease. Dr. Marando offers a comprehensive range of treatment options, including medical therapy with eye drops, laser procedures, and both routine and complex surgeries. Her surgical expertise includes cataract surgery, selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser iridotomy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) such as goniotomies and stents, trabeculectomy, tube shunt procedures, and cyclophotocoagulation. She tailors each treatment plan to the individual patient's needs.
Dr. Marando completed her ophthalmology residency and glaucoma subspecialty fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard University. During her training, she published two textbook chapters and seven scholarly articles, and served as an Advocacy Ambassador for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society, and the American Glaucoma Society. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors and a distinction in research. Her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering is from the University of Rochester, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
