About Me
Dr. Caroline Baumal is a retina specialist who provides consultation for medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases. She has surgical expertise in managing complex retinal conditions including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, and ocular trauma.
Dr. Baumal has a special interest in macular degeneration, uveitis, retinovascular diseases, and pediatric retinal disorders. She also focuses on ocular manifestations of systemic diseases and ocular imaging. As an assistant professor of ophthalmology at New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center, she is involved in multi-center research studies evaluating new therapies for macular degeneration and macular edema.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Toronto Medical School, where she also completed her ophthalmology residency. Dr. Baumal completed her fellowship training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and later conducted laser research at New England Eye Center.
