Dr. Brian Chen

Dr. Brian Chen is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical care of cataracts, glaucoma, and complex anterior segment disease. A Los Angeles native, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology (Neurobiology) from UC Berkeley, completed a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University, and received his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine. He then completed an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital, where he served as chief resident and earned the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Chen went on to a glaucoma fellowship at the University of South Florida, refining expertise across both minimally invasive and traditional glaucoma surgeries.Dr. Chen enjoys partnering with patients to personalize treatment plans—whether that means optimizing eye drop regimens, using laser therapy, or combining cataract surgery with glaucoma procedures to streamline recovery. He communicates clearly and welcomes questions so patients feel informed and confident at every step. He speaks English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Taiwanese.
