In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Tieu conducts clinical and basic science research on retinal detachment, eye trauma, and new methods of intraocular lens placement. He has co-authored several textbook chapters, published many peer-reviewed articles in renowned international journals, and has been invited as a keynote speaker and presenter at local, regional, and national medical and scientific conferences. Over the years, he has received numerous awards and recognition during his training and as a faculty member for outstanding research, quality of patient care, teaching, and being very personable and compassionate.

He spent the first six years of his career at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the GV Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center teaching medical students and developing doctors into competent eye surgeons and retina specialists. He has positively influenced many physicians who have become outstanding ophthalmologists and retina surgeons. Now he is focused on transforming the way he practices medicine to enhance his patients’ experience while continuing to provide the highest level of medical and surgical care possible.
