Dr. Benjamin Janson

Dr. Ben J. Janson is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, with a focus on helping patients see clearly and protect their vision over time. He performs cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange and offers ongoing care for conditions that require careful monitoring and treatment.

Dr. Janson has particular interests in treating medical retinal disease and in both medical and surgical management of glaucoma. In addition to in-office procedures such as retinal injections and retinal laser treatment, he treats common post-cataract concerns with YAG laser capsulotomy and provides eyelid procedures when appropriate.

Originally from Mason City, Iowa, Dr. Janson completed undergraduate studies at Iowa State University and earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He returned to Iowa for an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa. He remains engaged in education and academic work while keeping care practical, personalized, and patient-centered.
