Dr. Patrick Donegan

Dr. Patrick Donegan is an ophthalmology resident at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, where he is training to become a comprehensive ophthalmologist. His residency is set to conclude in June 2026, during which he gains hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye diseases.

Dr. Donegan holds a leadership position as the Chief Medical Editor for EyeRounds.org, an online resource for ophthalmology case reports and grand rounds. He became a member of the editorial board in Spring 2024 and assumed the editor role in July 2025, overseeing content that educates both clinicians and patients.

He completed his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Donegan's work on case reports, such as band keratopathy and conjunctival capillary hemangioma, reflects his commitment to improving ophthalmic education and patient care through detailed clinical documentation.
