Dr. Barry Mandell

Dr. Barry Mandell is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal disorders, currently recognized as Physician Emeritus at Lipman Tosi Retina Consultants. A native Virginian, he returned to the Tidewater area in 1998 and founded the Mandell Retina Center in 2007, providing care for patients with diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous.

Dr. Mandell's clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, macular holes, macular puckers, pediatric retinal diseases, and ocular trauma. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, and he serves on the clinical faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School's Department of Ophthalmology.

He completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at Emory University, where he served as chief resident, and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
