About Me
Dr. Arpan Bachhawat is a retina specialist at Georgia Retina, serving the greater Macon and Warner Robins areas. He began practicing in Georgia in 2009 after completing extensive training in vitreoretinal surgery.
Dr. Bachhawat earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from West Virginia University, graduating magna cum laude in 1999. He then attended West Virginia University Medical School, where he received honors in his third-year rotations in Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, and Pediatrics. His postgraduate training included a transitional year internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky. During residency, he was elected chief resident in 2006. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Northwestern University.
In his practice, Dr. Bachhawat provides comprehensive retina care, including medical and surgical management of conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment. He is committed to staying at the forefront of retinal treatments and technology to offer his patients the best possible outcomes. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, biking, running, and watching movies.
