About Me
Dr. Alok Shawn Bansal is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon with Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and vitreous disorders, offering advanced care to patients throughout the San Francisco Bay area.
Dr. Bansal completed his medical training with distinction, including an ophthalmology residency at the top-ranked Emory Eye Center and a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Wills Eye Hospital. His research on vitrectomy earned him the National Research Award, and he actively contributes to ophthalmic literature as an author and journal reviewer. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UC San Francisco, mentoring the next generation of eye surgeons.
Clinically, Dr. Bansal focuses on conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions, and he has extensive expertise in surgical management of complex retinal cases.
