About Me
Alanna James, MD, is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients with all stages of glaucoma. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Andrews University and completed her medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where she also finished an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency. Dr. James pursued advanced subspecialty training in glaucoma at the University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute, refining expertise in both established and minimally invasive procedures.
At Mitchell & Morin Eye Institute, Dr. James tailors treatment plans that balance safety, effectiveness, and long-term vision preservation. She has particular interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and tube shunt procedures, and is skilled in managing complex cataracts, including combined cataract–glaucoma cases. Committed to access and equity in eye care, she enjoys partnering with patients and referring providers to simplify next steps and support continuity of care. Outside the clinic, she enjoys racket sports, experimenting in the kitchen, and attending live concerts.
