About Me
Dr. Alan J. Ruby is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal diseases. He provides care for patients with conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration at Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Ruby is dedicated to offering personalized treatment and is actively involved in clinical research to advance vitreoretinal care.
Dr. Ruby completed his medical training with high honors at the University of Michigan and served as Chief Resident in ophthalmology at Northwestern University. He pursued advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases at Washington University. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ruby serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Biomedical Science at Oakland University and is involved in educating future ophthalmologists.
Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Ruby has been named to The Best Doctors in America and was nominated for Newsweek's America's Leading Doctors in 2025. He is an active member of several professional societies and continues to participate in research studies, including serving as principal investigator for multiple National Eye Institute studies.
