About Me
Vicente Diaz, MD, MBA, is an ophthalmologist with specialized training in ocular immunology and infectious diseases. He treats conditions such as cataracts, dry eye, and glaucoma, along with autoimmune diseases affecting the eye, using immune-modulatory therapy. Dr. Diaz emphasizes the profound impact of restoring sight, stating that saving a patient's vision never gets old.
Dr. Diaz was among the first in Connecticut to offer femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), which provides a safer and more precise approach by reducing ultrasound energy. He utilizes advanced technologies like ORA aberrometry for accurate measurements and customizes lens implants to meet individual patient needs.
As director of ophthalmology for the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital, he manages numerous cases of Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a serious disorder that can threaten sight and life. Additionally, he serves as a co-investigator on FDA clinical trials for immunomodulatory therapies, including studies on intraocular sirolimus for uveitis and amniotic membrane for pterygium. Dr. Diaz is also chief of ophthalmology for the Yale Health Plan, addressing eye care for Yale's community.
