Ophthalmology – Uveitis Specialist
About Me
Shimy Apoorva, DO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with focused training in ocular immunology and uveitis. She cares for patients with inflammatory and infectious eye disease across the full spectrum—from anterior uveitis and scleritis to complex, multi-system conditions. Patients appreciate her clear explanations and step-by-step plans that balance sight-saving therapy with quality of life.
Dr. Apoorva completed an ocular immunology and uveitis fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution (MERSI) after ophthalmology residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. She offers medical and surgical care, including steroid-sparing immunomodulatory therapy, intravitreal treatments, and cataract surgery tailored for uveitis. Her goal is to coordinate closely with rheumatology and infectious disease so patients receive seamless, whole-person care.
