About Me
Dr. Tyler Ofstad is a native of the Flathead Valley, having grown up in nearby Polson, which gives him a deep understanding of the local community. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors in biological sciences from Stanford University, followed by both a medical degree and a PhD in neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. His medical training included an internship at Providence Sacred Heart in Spokane, a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester, and a fellowship in VitreoRetinal Surgery back at UC San Diego. Dr. Ofstad joined Glacier Eye Clinic in August 2019, bringing his specialized skills to the region.
He specializes in cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of vitreous and retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, retinal detachment, and retinal vascular diseases. This expertise allows him to provide advanced care for complex eye conditions. Dr. Ofstad is board certified in Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence and ongoing education.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Ofstad enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, and their three children. They are active in outdoor activities such as cycling, skiing, fishing, and hiking in the mountains, which aligns with the lifestyle of the Flathead Valley. His personal connection to the area and dedication to patient care make him a trusted ophthalmologist for the community.
