About Me

Dr. Thomas Fitzsimmons is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. He treats a wide variety of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, and thyroid eye disease. He also specializes in conditions affecting the eyelids and surrounding structures, such as drooping or baggy eyelids, excessive tearing, lesions, and skin cancers around the eyes, and performs cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Dr. Fitzsimmons’ approach to care focuses on achieving the best outcome with minimal pain, bruising, and scarring. He joined Summit Health Eye Care in 2006. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan, completed his ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic, and received subspecialty training in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at the University of Texas in Dallas.
