About Me

Dr. Tal Ben Ami is a board-certified ophthalmologist focused on the medical and surgical care of the retina, macula, and vitreous. He treats age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal tears and detachments, and other disorders that can threaten sight. His approach pairs attentive, plain-spoken communication with evidence-based therapies such as intravitreal injections, laser, and advanced vitreoretinal surgery to protect and restore vision.

Dr. Ben Ami earned his medical degree at the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem. He completed an ophthalmology residency at Brown University and advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Earlier in his career, he spent a year at NYU Langone studying advanced ophthalmic imaging, publishing peer-reviewed work and presenting at national meetings. He sees patients at OCLI Vision offices in Queens and Brooklyn, welcoming both new and established patients seeking thoughtful retina care.
