About Me
Dr. Sumit (Sam) Garg is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist and a nationally recognized expert in the latest techniques for cataract surgery, corneal, conjunctival and refractive surgery, and intraocular lens implants. He provides advanced care for conditions affecting the cornea and anterior segment of the eye.
Dr. Garg earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed an internal medicine internship at UCLA Olive View Medical Center. He then finished a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at the UCI School of Medicine and Gavin Herbert Eye Institute in Irvine.
His research focuses on cataract surgery, keratoconus, corneal transplantation, corneal infections, and dry eye disease. He is the author or co-author of dozens of publications in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to numerous book chapters. Dr. Garg frequently lectures at conferences and symposia locally, nationally, and internationally. He sees patients in Irvine and Orange and is fluent in Spanish.
