About Me
Steven M. Christiansen, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions along the Front Range. He treats age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vein and artery occlusions, uveitis, and symptomatic vitreous floaters. Depending on each patient’s needs, Dr. Christiansen offers advanced imaging, in-office laser and injection therapies, and microsurgical repair to protect and restore vision. Dr. Christiansen completed medical school at the University of Utah, ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa, and a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute/University of Cincinnati. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, collaborative approach, and calm, thorough bedside manner. He works closely with referring optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure timely care, and he welcomes urgent evaluations for new flashes, floaters, or a curtain over the vision. Outside the operating room, Dr. Christiansen contributes to retina education through writing and presentations, and he is recognized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his service and leadership.
