Dr. Stephen Owens

Dr. S. Douglas Owens is a board-certified ophthalmologist and the only board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist in the Montgomery area. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, offering advanced procedures such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), filtration surgery, EX-PRESS Mini Device surgery, and glaucoma shunt surgery. Dr. Owens also provides state-of-the-art cataract surgery and treatment for a variety of ocular diseases, aiming to deliver the best possible visual outcomes for his patients.

His commitment to eye care is supported by extensive training, including a residency in ophthalmology at the UAB Eye Foundation Hospital and a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Owens has also conducted vitreo-retinal research and received the Richard M. Feist Research Elective Award.
