About Me

Dr. Saba K. Al-Hashimi is a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgeon who helps patients see comfortably and clearly at every stage of life. He offers state-of-the-art laser vision correction (including LASIK, SMILE, and PRK), femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery with advanced lens options, and the full spectrum of corneal transplantation techniques tailored to each eye. Patients also turn to him for keratoconus management and treatment of complex ocular surface disease and uveitis, with a focus on restoring comfort and function.

Dr. Al-Hashimi received his undergraduate training in Biologic Science at the University of California, Irvine where he graduated with honors. He went to medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, finishing at the top of his class and being elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. During his ophthalmology residency at the Boston University Medical Center, his interest in cornea and refractive surgery grew. He pursued additional fellowship training at UCLA's Stein Eye Institute, where he received specialized training in cutting-edge laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and anterior surface ocular disease management.

Dr. Al-Hashimi currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the Cornea Division at UCLA Health. His clinical activities include laser refractive surgery (LASIK, SMILE and PRK), femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), corneal transplantation (including PKP, DALK, DSAEK and DMEK), and the surgical management of a variety of ocular surface diseases. In clinic he takes time to explain findings and choices, from non-surgical therapies to surgical plans, so people can move forward with confidence and realistic expectations.
