About Me
Dr. Rick N. Nordgren is a board-certified, retina-only ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for the full spectrum of retinal and macular conditions. His clinical focus includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, and other causes of sudden or progressive vision changes.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University and completed medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he participated in ophthalmic research and publications. After an internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, he completed ophthalmology training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and received recognition as a senior resident, including the Senior Resident Teaching Award and the Silver Scalpel Award for surgical excellence. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Retina Institute of Indiana and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
