About Me
Dr. Joshua Carlson is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He completed his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Brigham Young University and earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Carlson then moved to the West Coast for his internship at the University of California, Irvine and the Long Beach VA Medical Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He further honed his expertise through a prestigious two-year medical and surgical retina-vitreous fellowship at Vanderbilt University Eye Institute.
Dr. Carlson’s clinical focus includes the diagnosis and management of complex retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular holes. He is skilled in advanced vitreoretinal surgical techniques, retinal laser procedures, and intravitreal injections. Dr. Carlson is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and staying current with the latest advancements in retinal treatments. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Carlson enjoys exploring the hiking trails of Southern Utah with his family and has a keen interest in botany. His dedication to both his patients and the community reflects the values of Retina Associates of Southern Utah.
