About Me
Dr. Ricardo Akstein is the principal ophthalmologist at Akstein Eye Center, serving patients in the greater Atlanta area. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care with a focus on thoughtful evaluation, clear communication, and personalized treatment options.
Dr. Akstein earned his medical degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and spent a year in general and ophthalmic pathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He then completed ophthalmology residency training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he also pursued fellowship training in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. He has additional experience in refractive procedures for nearsightedness and astigmatism and treats a wide range of conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disorders.
