Dr. Rachel Mercer

Dr. Rachel Mercer is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a focus on cataract surgery, laser procedures, and the medical and surgical management of eye diseases. Her training includes a residency in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, providing her with specialized skills for complex eye conditions.

Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Mercer completed both her undergraduate studies and medical degree at Texas Tech University. She began her career with an internship in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic before specializing in ophthalmology. Since 2016, Dr. Mercer has been a physician at Midwest Eye Care in Omaha, where she offers personalized care for patients with a wide range of eye issues.

Dr. Mercer holds hospital privileges at several institutions, such as CHI Mercy Hospital, Nebraska Medicine, and Nebraska Methodist Hospital, ensuring comprehensive care. She is actively involved in the medical community through memberships in organizations like the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Additionally, she has presented at ophthalmology grand rounds on topics including eye changes in systemic diseases and immunogammopathy retinopathy. Her academic achievements include recognition with honors such as Alpha Omega Alpha membership and the President’s Endowed Scholar award.
