Dr. Rabia Karani

Dr. Rabia Karani is a vitreoretinal surgeon who specializes in the medical and surgical care of retinal disease. She treats diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular pucker, retinal detachment, and retinal vascular occlusions, and provides longitudinal care with a focus on patient education and comfort. Her practice blends advanced imaging, in-office procedures, and surgical expertise to help preserve and restore sight.

Dr. Karani earned her M.D. at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed a Master of Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health with concentrations in epidemiology and biostatistics. She completed ophthalmology residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute and returned to Johns Hopkins for a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute.
