About Me
Dr. Paul De Bustros is a retina specialist in fellowship training who cares for patients with medical and surgical diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. He evaluates and treats age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, and retinal vein occlusions. During fellowship he performs procedures such as intravitreal injections, retinal laser, and vitreoretinal surgery under the guidance of experienced faculty, with a focus on safety, vision, and comfort.
Raised in the south suburbs of Chicago, Dr. De Bustros completed ophthalmology residency as chief resident and has pursued research in non-invasive imaging for diabetic retinopathy and the ocular surface microbiome. He aims to deliver clear, evidence-based care and to help patients understand each step of their treatment.
