About Me
Dr. Paul A. Yates is an ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases and vitreoretinal surgery. He serves as an associate professor and co-director of the retina fellowship program at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
His clinical expertise focuses on conditions affecting the retina and vitreous, including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other complex vitreoretinal disorders. Dr. Yates completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Tufts University and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, and residency in ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He holds an MD and a PhD in neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. At UVA, he provides comprehensive care for patients with retinal conditions and performs advanced vitreoretinal surgeries.
