Meet Dr. Nicholas Mayfield
About Me
Dr. Nicholas Mayfield is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retinologist specializing in surgery and diseases of the retina and vitreous. His advanced fellowship training focused on the management of retinal detachment, including procedures like pars plana vitrectomy, scleral buckling, and pneumatic retinopexy. He also has specialized training in using Argon laser for diabetic eye problems and retinal tears, managing traumatic cataracts with pars plana lensectomy, and treating macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and advanced age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Mayfield is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is licensed to practice medicine and perform surgery in Georgia and Alabama. He holds fellowship status with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. Outside of his practice, he enjoys playing classical guitar, spending time at the gym, jogging, swimming, and spending time with his wife and kids, including watching Alabama Crimson Tide football games.
