Dr. Monica Ertel

Monica Ertel, MD, is an ophthalmologist at the UCHealth Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center who provides comprehensive glaucoma care. Her clinical care philosophy is to provide patients with the best care with a personalized approach. She strives to develop a relationship with her patients so that they can work together to develop a care plan that best treats their eye condition.

She treats the full spectrum of glaucoma disease, offering medical therapy, office-based laser procedures, and surgical options including minimally invasive techniques tailored to each patient’s needs. Dr. Ertel also performs cataract surgery and enjoys partnering with patients to build a plan that fits their goals and lifestyle. Her interests include the medical management of glaucoma and the surgical management of both glaucoma and cataracts.

Outside of clinic, Dr. Ertel volunteers at an ophthalmology clinic in Colorado Springs providing care for under-resourced patients. In her free time, she enjoys running, skiing, and spending time outdoors with her husband and two daughters.
