About Me
Dr. Mira Menon Sachdeva is a retina specialist at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute who treats diseases of the retina and vitreous with both medical and surgical care. She cares for patients with diabetic retinopathy and macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachment, macular holes and epiretinal membranes.
Dr. Sachdeva is also a physician-scientist focused on developing new strategies to prevent or reverse retinal neurodegeneration and vision loss, particularly in people with diabetes. Her goal is to translate advances in neuroprotection into better long-term outcomes for patients with retinal disease. She earned her MD and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, completed ophthalmology residency at Johns Hopkins, and pursued vitreoretinal surgery fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital. In clinic, she emphasizes careful monitoring, clear explanations, and individualized treatment plans that may include imaging, injections, laser therapy or retinal surgery depending on each patient’s needs.
