About Me
M. Cem Mocan, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist at UI Health who cares for children with a wide range of eye conditions. He has a special focus on pediatric anterior segment disorders and offers family-centered care that explains diagnoses and treatments in clear, reassuring language. Dr. Mocan’s clinical interests include congenital and infantile glaucoma, pediatric cataracts, strabismus requiring ocular re-alignment surgery, and amblyopia. He is also part of the multidisciplinary Craniofacial Center Team at UI Health, where he manages eye problems in children born with craniofacial differences. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mocan serves as full-time faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He contributes to national, multicenter research studying visual outcomes in children affected by conditions such as retinopathy of prematurity, retinoblastoma, and neurofibromatosis. Dr. Mocan speaks English and Turkish and is committed to partnering with families to support healthy vision at every stage of childhood.
