About Me
Dr. Matthew Welch joined Associated Retina Consultants in 2014 as a vitreoretinal surgeon, bringing specialized experience from private practice in intraocular tumor disease and surgery. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who serves as director of the vitreoretinal fellowship program and holds an appointment as an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine-Phoenix.
Dr. Welch has participated in multiple clinical studies and has been recognized for his outstanding clinical service by Loyola University Health Systems with the MAGIS Star award. He maintains active memberships in several professional organizations including the American Society of Retina Specialists, and contributes to his field through committee and editorial roles that advance retinal care.
Outside his professional work, Dr. Welch enjoys cycling and spending time outdoors with his family in the Phoenix area. His conversational Spanish skills help him connect with a broader range of patients, reflecting his commitment to accessible and comprehensive retinal care across diverse communities.
